The mountain erupted with a terrific roar and a deafening explosion. Liquid mud poured down the steep slopes like a great rolling tide, destroying everything in its path. Li Hua was sure she could not run fast enough to escape it. She was frozen in place as she watched the rivers of mud smash into houses of bamboo, knocking them over as if they were made of paper.
